Presentation

For my presentation I decided to start with a brief overview of the basic history of the original Wizard of Oz, then after going over my simple time-plan over-viewing the plot of my version with corresponding pictures of the characters (the original version next to my design).

On this slide I talked about how the original book was actually fist published in 1900, and how the more popular film adaptation actually changed quite a lot of the story, but because it's a far more popular and recognisable version I decided to base my adaptation on the newer version.
This was my simple plan, including how much I intended to make, how long it would take and when I hope to be finished.
I started talking about my version of Dorothy here, who was scarred in a fire back in London and forced to move to Kansas to live with her Aunt and Uncle. I chose to make her younger than the film Dorothy as well, like in the original book as it made her more vulnerable.
Dorothy arrived in Oz in the same way as the book and film; vis cyclone, and killed the Witch of the East when she landed.
Like in the film and book the Witch of the North arrives, and I use her as a device to explain the basic premise of Oz. Everyone is immortal except the Witches, and because of this criminals and the such have their souls taken from their body's since they can't die. The bodies are taken to serve in the army of the Witch of the land where they live, and the soul become a Banished. The Banished spend their whole existence trying to build a new body, and most are mad. Most Banished's bodies are made of scrap metal and material they find, although flesh and bone are the best thing to make a body out of, hence Dorothy being in peril. The Witch also tells her to follow the yellow brick road to the Emerald City so the Wizard can send her home. Dorothy is also given two ruby bracelets which belonged to the Witch she killed.
On the way to the road, she meets the Scarecrow, who she makes a cloth fabric body for after he is attacked by fellow banished for his metal. In return he accompanies her as a bodyguard of some sort.
Next they meet the Tin Man, who tags along as well as he is interested.
Finally they meet the Cowardly Lion, who they save from a horde of Banished, and he joins them as well.
When they arrive at the Emerald City Dorothy reveals that she wants to stay in Oz, and she is told by the Wizard that the only way to stay is to kill a Witch and become a Witch yourself.

The three companions also get their bodies back from the army as a reward for making it this far.
The four travel to the land of the West, where the three companions are killed and in her rage Dorothy unlocks the power of the ruby bracelets and kills the Witch.
The Witches of the North and South arrive with the Wizard, and it is explained to Dorothy that she was being used all along, and that she was a Witch the second she killed the Witch of the East (even though she was told accidents didn't count), the Wizard and the two Witches tricked her into coming here and killing the Witch of the West as a Witch killing another Witch must be punished by banishment. Dorothy is then sent back to Kansas and is locked up in a mental asylum.

All in al the presentation went well, I believe I presented well, and I was quite confident as I had a good knowledge of what I wanted to do. My feedback was mostly positive, and a lot of people believed I would get it done on time, I also seemed confident to them, as well as enthusiastic, you could also tell I had put a lot of thought into my project. On the negative side a few people didn't think I could get it finished in time, and my presentation was quite lengthy, as I had to go over the whole plot. Unfortunately if I didn't talk about the plot my presentaion would have been too short as my production only involves writing and illustrating, I can't go into that much detail about my plans and such.
